Technology-facilitated abuse (“tech abuse”) in the context of domestic violence describes an incident or a pattern of incidents in which digital systems are used with the intention to monitor, control, coerce, threaten, degrade, and harm a victim/survivor.

Tech abuse, therefore, intersects closely with other forms of intimate partner violence and stalking. In this presentation, the UCL Gender and Tech Research Group will give an overview of the current evidence base on this emerging phenomenon, highlight some of the socio-technical-legal mitigation strategies that have been put forward, and discuss the role tech abuse could play in Domestic Abuse Perpetrator Programmes.
